Route

Network Recruitment Partnership was approached by Louise Gee at Briggs. Having used Network’s services in a previous role, she felt confident in using Network again. Briggs.

Background

Briggs had no PSL’s in place and tended to operate an open recruitment policy, however there were some long standing suppliers, but Louise decided on using a specialist recruiter for such an important role, Network were seen as an alternative to their usual staffing sources

Brief

During a restructuring exercise Briggs identified a requirement for a new key member of the Senior Management Team. Paul Gargett, a Managing Consultant at Network visited Louise, in order to get the full details of the role in person. The vacancy was for a Workshop Process Manager, this was quite a demanding role to fill as the person would be expected to manage the workshop process from initial order, to action and final completion, whilst being able to communicate and resolve any issues at all levels including staff, customers and suppliers. The successful candidate was also expected to have a full understanding of all aspects of the company from showing excellent commercial acumen to industry knowledge and Briggs wanted a Manager that could design and implement change processes, enabling the company to work more efficiently.
During the client on-site visit Paul of Network also discovered this vacancy was to be taken on under the strictest agreement of confidentiality. Briggs wanted to fill the role without an advertising programme, and their identity had to remain unknown until the final candidates had been selected.

Timeframe

Network was assigned with a twelve week turnaround, which included the Christmas break, and without any advertising campaign to assist with the candidate selection it was a challenging brief within a difficult time scale, yet Paul didn’t hesitate to work to the clients time requests.

Outcome

Network used there extensive contacts within the regions Manufacturing & Engineering industry as well as conducting an in-depth targeted search of Networks primary and tertiary databases allowing them to keep the vacancy search completely confidential just as the client requested. Following the executive search, possible candidate were selected for a pre-screening interview by Network, all of which were completed in person. Once this stage was completed the screened applicants were forwarded to Louise. To allow her to make an informed decision Paul developed an in-depth profile of each candidate, including full CV’s and a summary of their industry knowledge and experience.
As a result of the targeted method of candidate selection Briggs wanted to interview all of the candidates put forward to them from Network.
The interview process selected by Briggs included candidate testing. As a result of the time Paul put into helping each candidate prepare, and the honesty with which every stage of the applicant process was achieved, within the allotted timeframe Briggs had a new Workshop Process Manager in place on 26th January 2009. As a final addition to the completed vacancy Paul provided Louise with a portfolio of the successful candidate, which included completed reference checks, and qualification validation.
