In 2012 on average, logistics costs represent 7.15% of European GDP, by comparison, estimated logistics costs represent 15 to16% of China’s GDP and 11 to 13% of India’s GDP.
Additionally, the function of  buying teams within leading companies has evolved hugely over the last 15 years with purchasing now viewed as a subset of the wider procurement process. The procurement process fully involving establishing fundamental requirements, sourcing activities such as market research, vendor evaluation and negotiation of contracts.
