Due to an increase in orders and sustained investment in the business a leading international supplier of electrical power management and control systems requires experienced Software Engineers to design and project manage both standard products and bespoke systems to meet customers needs.
Software Engineer
(Real Time Embedded Control Systems)
Salary : £30-35000 + benefits
Location: East Midlands (commutable from Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Burton on Trent, Tamworth, Nuneaton, Coventry, Rugby areas )
Duties:
- Design of real time control software for electrical generator and power systems control and monitoring systems.
- Preparation and review of technical specifications of products and systems to meet customers requirements.
- Provision of technical support to customers and to sales, manufacturing, testing, commissioning functions including pre-commissioning and FAT.
- Preparation and review of technical specifications including review of customers' specifications..
- Participate in cross-functional activities such as customer meetings, product and project review.
- Support sales and service personnel by occasionally working on sites in the UK, offshore and overseas when required.
Experience:
- BSc Honours Degree level Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Control Systems , Software Engineering or similar.
- High level of competency in C++ for ONX, MFC and .net is essential. The ability to demonstrate a high awareness of software quality control including the use of CVS or similar revision control software is essential.
- Experience of C, C#, Linux, Windows is desirable.
- Experience of real time software design and programming for complex embedded control systems ideally related to Industrial Control Systems, HMI, MMI, SCADA/ DCS, Power Generation or Protection .
- However Software Engineers or Controls Engineers with a good working knowledge of power electronics, test equipment, rotating machinery, rail, traction, motor control, AC – DC drives, plant shutdown, relays or similar technology gained working for an Defence Contractor, Aerospace, Special Purpose Machinery, Utility, Oil & Gas, Petro-Chemical or similar industry would certainly be of interest.
- A willingness to be involved in a broad range of design, project engineering, customer support activities.
