Mechanical Design Engineer
(Aerospace component manufacturer)
Salary: c £28000
Location: East Midlands ( commutable from Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Loughborough, Burton, Tamworth, Coventry areas )
The Design Engineer role will be involved with both new R&D projects and supporting existing product development, providing technical assistance in response to customer inquiries and R & D project needs and is responsible for the completion of component design drawings.
The role will also be expected to support to sales, manufacturing, procurement and quality areas consistent with principles of concurrent engineering.
Duties
Completes own design projects providing cost effective solutions to meet customer requirements.
Inline with design & test processes coordinates development project activities thru all stages of design to validation, constructing and maintaining project schedules, when required, for all projects in ownership.
Constructs 3D CAD models for component designs, collates and presents technical data to support design proposals and fully details component drawings for approval submission, both internal and external.
Person Spec:
Qualified to Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similiar discipline
Previous experience in Mechanical Engineering Design position preferable with aerospace related technology
Knowledge of the equipment and processes required during the qualification and testing of aerospace products and materials.
Experience of working with Catia V5 (or similar 3D CAD package)
Experience of generating Engineering Drawings, Geometrical Tolerances and BS8888
Good IT, self organisation and communication skills
Proven record of analysing and solving engineering design problems
