CAD CAM Engineer, Birmingham
Would you like to work within a state if the art environment, for a forward moving company who continue to grow year upon year ? Have you experience of a variety of CAD CAM packages ? Can you program files for Punch, Laser and Brake Presses ? If the answer to all these is yes then this position is for you.
For an initial 6 month contract I require a CAM Programmer/Analyst required for busy Metal Shop. Candidate will be required to programme files for Punch, Laser and Brake Press, and must be able to work from detailed manufacturing drawings and to liaise with production on technical issues. They may also be required to assist with production planning, routing and estimating.
Key projects
- Scrutinise current method of programming and drive improvements in the following areas:
- Material usage
- Sheets size
- Commonality of parts
- Tooling requirements
- Alternative manufacturing methods
- Automation of routing creation
- Efficiency in nested program creation
Person/Knowledge/Experience:
Previous experience within a sheet-metal manufacturing environment is essential including knowledge of CAD, engineering drawings, material specifications, and production processes/sequences.
This role will require a strong individual that can communicate/convince at all levels. It will be a hands on role so the ability to win support at the shop floor level is critical.
- Background in Programming; Lantec, Salvagnini, Bysoft, Metal Shop beneficial
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes & routings
- Ability to control costs & sheet utilisation
- Knowledge of sheet metal punch, form & cut machines
- Understanding of job card creation & work scheduling
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, CAD, DXF
- Strong knowledge of KPI's
- Strong awareness of continuous improvement
- CAM Systems user support
- Problem troubleshooting and analysis of software systems issues
- License Administration and support
- CAM application administration and support
- Assist in the development, deployment and maintenance of CAM packages
